Room description

Large room with private en suite bathroom, heat pump, thermal curtains, built-in wardrobe, wall-hung TV and separate entrance that leads onto large backyard deck. There is a temperamental spa (generally works but sometimes needs TLC). Note deck, spa and garden are shared space.

Room was completely renovated in 2023. House gets lots of sunshine. (Solar installed in 2025.)

Rent is $375 per week plus bond ($1125). Includes wi-fi, electricity and fortnightly housecleaner.

You’ll be living with me (owner, 56m, IT professional) and my son (21m, studying architecture at Vic).

House is the rear unit, up a flight of stairs, with good views over Karori. It is a very tranquil spot despite being a 5 min walk to Karori shops, restaurants, bus stops (2, 18 and 21 with easy access to town, Vic, the train station and the airport). Plenty of free on-street parking.

Full kitchen with dishwasher, separate laundry room (washer and dryer) plus space to line-dry items even in winter.

Also has a sitting room with 50” TV and large fish tank and separate dining area. House and garden are well-maintained. Includes vege beds and fruit trees.

Suitable for single or couple. Ideal candidate will be a mature student or professional who is clean and respectful, who knows how to load a dishwasher and supports recycling. Unfortunately, no pets, no children, no smoking (not even outside). I am vegetarian but my son is not.

Available furnished or semi-furnished. Currently has king-size bed, two dressers, two bedside tables, sitting chair, bar fridge, microwave and kettle. (The room has recently been used as an Airbnb.)

A stair-lift is available if you have mobility issues but I would not describe the house as accessible.
