Room description

We are a heart-centred, intentional community called The Sanctuary, based in Ōwairaka/Mt Albert. We encourage and enable authentic self-expression, growth, healing, and radical acceptance, love and kindness. We are clothing optional, and aspire to non-judgmentally support each other through the challenges and beauty of the human experience.

The Kiwi room is a downstairs bedroom with an ensuite in our spacious 6 bedroom community home. Our suburban paradise is 980m² in the heart of Mt Albert's Golden Triangle - close to buses, trains, and motorways. Very convenient location. Also close to the beautiful maunga Ōwairaka/Mt Albert.

We have abundant gardens of spray-free veges, herbs, fruits, and nuts. We spend time gardening, walking, enjoying the sun, learning about plants and psychology, doing kundalini yoga, having heart-sharing circles, and sharing community meals. Some of us also love singing, dancing, playing games and watching movies. Please read more about us below if you feel resonance.

Kiwi room details:

$280 per week single/$320 pw couple

Bond is four weeks rent $1120 ($1280 couple)

Expenses are $40 per week per person covering utilities, household supplies, and basic garden costs. Utilities include unlimited fibre internet, plus reasonable use of power and water. Household supplies include reasonable use of toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, baking paper, hand-soap, dish-washing liquid and powder, laundry powder, rubbish bags, white vinegar, and cleaning materials. Basic garden costs include lawn mowing plus seeds and seedlings for the garden.

We are unlikely to be able to accommodate mammalian pets as we already have a lovely rescue cat and a senior dog living on the property. We take dogdog for lovely walks around the neighbourhood which you're welcome to join us on.

Current community members are open-minded, heart-centred individuals in our early thirties. We are a mix of ethnicities, genders, and sexualities, and welcome further diversity!

Our current vision is to create an environment in which we feel nourished and safe to explore and live into the values of radical love and freedom through body-mind liberation, and respect and responsibility.

Body-mind liberation – this includes awareness, connection, and embodiment through practices like acro-yoga, breathing, ceremony, contact improv, creating, cuddling, dancing, fasting, forgiving, gratitude, introspecting, martial arts, meditating, nakedness, nature-bathing, playing, running, service, singing, slacklining, swimming, tantra, walking, yoga. We also enjoy learning, playing board games and watching movies and documentaries.

Respect and responsibility – this includes care and compassion, conscious communication, conscious consumption, decolonisation, ethical eating, growing organic food, permaculture, radical kindness, refusing/reducing/re-using/re-purposing/recycling, soil regeneration, sustainability.

We respectfully reject factory farmed meat, pesticide, fungicide, cigarettes and regular alcohol/drug consumption.

About the house:
